equipment provided in them are not being maintained properly by the local administration
of the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI).
Pointing out the poor maintenance of the
108 ambulance and its medical equipment, in the four districts of Madurai,
Theni, Dindigul and Virudhunagar, they said this posed a threat to the life of

portable oxygen cylinder, humidifier, suction apparatus pulse oncimeter papillary
torch and blood pressure apparatus attached to the ambulances were not in
working condition.
“Most of the ambulances do not have wheel
chairs and collapsible stretchers, though the ambulances carry other equipment.

and after frequent break downs the batteries and uninterrupted
power supply system (UPS) in ambulances have not been maintained properly they
complained.
The Union members alleged that they had
made several complaints about the maintenance issue. But in vain. Further, when
the union members questioned about the lack of maintenance, the EMRI

disciplinary action against the employees they alleged .
